South Chicago YMCA
The Y is the place where everyone can belong,
The South Chicago YMCA has been dedicated to serving the communities of South Shore, South Chicago, Southeast Chicago, Hegewisch, Calumet, and Whitting for over 100 years. At the South Chicago Y, we are driven by community need, guided by community volunteers and open to all. As one of the largest not-for-profit organizations in the country, the YMCA is committed to providing opportunities to help people of all ages develop and grow in spirit, mind and body. No one is ever denied access to our membership or programs due to the inability to pay.
The YMCA is proud of its heritage and commitment to make its character-building, family-enriching programs available to everyone in our community. Annually, we receive support from members, community leaders and businesses who believe in our mission to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. They contribute generously to our Kids Need Hero's Annual Fund. These funds are distributed to families with a documented financial need.
In 2007, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago awarded more than 3.5 million in scholarships to assist the youth and families in Chicago communities who would otherwise be unable to participate in our programs.
It is our goal to make programs and services available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Please call us at 773-721-9100 for more information or to apply for assistance.
Income Based Rate Scale
It is the goal of the South Chicago YMCA to encourage individual health and well-being by making our programs and services accessible to all, regardless of their income level. To ensure that we are available to all we use an Income Based Fee Scale, or IBRS. Our membership prices are based on household income. Members with a household income of $55,000 or above will pay the current membership rates. Members with a household income below $55,000 will pay a discounted membership rate based on where their income is on the Income Based Rate Scale.
Previous year's 1040 IRS financial statement is required.
